The cheerful Sipho was left alone, paralysed from his waist down. He laughingly describes how he used to look like a ghost and he still cannot believe he is able to walk on his crutches.

From the Chairman and
the Medical Director
When we launched AIDS Care Training and Support Initiative in 2000, we could not have imagined how rapidly the work from the clinic would grow and expand. Our vision was to provide a continuum of quality care and support to all those in the Masoyi Tribal Area touched in any way by HIV/AI
DS. It is immensely satisfying today to see how that vision is being fulfilled, as the community warmly embraces the clinic and its various arms.
There are still great needs and enormous challenges. But through the dedication of our staff, the enthusiastic involvement of the community, and the generous support of our sponsors, we are seeing a dramatic improvement in the quality of life of those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. From pregnant mothers, rape survivors and people living with AIDS through to those in the final stages of the disease, ACTS initiative is making a very real difference, and is being recognised as a model HIV/AIDS project.
We trust that as you visit the following pages you will be as excited as we are about what has been accomplished. Even more, we pray you will be inspired to stand with us in meeting the still greater needs ahead.
